51 Lucifer Ale Good Davenport's Dungeon 12/3/99 Pleasant, somewhat hoppy ? A.J. Menor Finn

6.5 6.25 5

5.91 Belgium Lucifer Ale is a secondary fermentation brew. This means it's still fermenting in the bottle! And guess what? It tastes that way! Not too bad, but definitely very yeasty. Since a few of The Beer Guys were married to Lucifer we can definitely say it doesn't live up to it's name. Yet, it ain't too shabby! $1.75 per bottle
52 Newcastle Brown Ale Ale Exceptional Davenport's Dungeon 12/3/99 Sweet! ? A.J. Menor Finn

8.83 England Damn Fine beer! We don't know much about those limey bastards we saved in world war 2, but they do know how to brew a great beer. Newcastle is one of our personal favorites! Probably the best thing to come out of England since John, Paul ,George, and Ringo. A little pricey, but then again, "All you need is Love!" A.J. calls this "Beer Candy" need we say more! $7.99 a six pack
53 Grolsch Lager Above Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/3/99 Stout, but clean ? Menor A.J. Finn

6.5 6.75 6.5

6.58 Holland Some of us have tested this fine lager in the snowy slopes of Switzerland, and it's still just as tasty. Although it has a rather Stout smell, it's as smooth as a pilsner. A little heavier in flavor than a pilsner it has the same body. All in all, not a bad bang for your buck. $6.99 a six pack
54 Pumpkin Ale Ale Poor Davenport's Dungeon 12/4/99 Excellent, (smells like pumpkin pie) ? A.J. Menor Finn

4.5 4 1

3.16 U.S.A. Portland, Oregon Well, it smells great! Unfortunately that's the best part. Some of us felt it was tolerable, others…unsuitable for consumption! The heavy clove flavor scared some of us, others, much more stinking drunk, thought it palatable. The best advice on this one, Eat some pumpkin pie, and drink a real beer! $2.50 a bottle
55 Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale Ale Above Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/3/99 Potent! Very Nutty! 5% Menor A.J. Finn

8.75 7 6

7.25 England Most thought it resembled Newcastle with a kick! Pretty damn smooth with a nutty after bite. Leaves a little smoke up your nose, if you know what we mean. Definitely a beer you wouldn't mind getting acquainted with. Just be careful, the porcelain bus ride could be more flavorful than you'd like. $1.99 a bottle
56 Flying Dog Ale Above Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Smells like Iced tea, with a hint of honey ? Big John Wood A.J. Menor Finn 5 5 6.5 5.5 5 5.4 U.S.A. Aspen, Colo. Another Micro-brew. Several thought it resembled old iced tea. Not too bad although it had a stronger flavor than the smell hinted at. Quite a bit o' barley, but it was sweetened with honey. Have to comment on the label, damn fine piece of art resembling Pink Floyd's The Wall Album. Not a bad beer. $1.50 a bottle
57 Red Dog Pilsner Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Smells like Bud, hint o' skunk ? Big John A.J. Menor Wood Finn 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.75 3.2 4.29 U.S.A. Brewed by the fine people at Anheiser-Busch. We think they were trying to steal Red Stripe fans. Not a bad brew, although a little tangier than typical Bud. Denver Dean drinks this stuff. If your looking for a little "hair o' the dog" this may be your brew. $5 a six pack
58 Longboard Lager Lager Above Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Very mild, some hops ? Big John A.J. Wood Menor Finn 6 7.5 7 7 5 6.5 U.S.A., Kona, Hawaii Overall a smooth creamy textured beer. Smells like driving by the Budweiser Plant in Van Nuys. A little high in the carbonation area, but definitely a beer you could snuggle up with. Not a hint of after taste. You could actually picture yourself watching the sunset in Kona with this one. A bit pricey if you were looking to get loaded, but the hangover could spell hammock time, so what the hell. $1.40 a bottle
59 Wasatch Honey Porter porter Exceptional Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Sweet with a hint of molasses ? Big John Wood A.J. Menor Finn 8 8 8.5 8.25 9 8.35 U.S.A. Park City Utah A full dark bodied porter. High on the molasses flavor. Several thought it as fine a beer as Guinness. The boys in Park City Utah can hold their heads high with this one. Unfortunately as with so many microbrews, it may be hard to find, but if you do…BOTTOMS UP! $1.80
60 2000 Barley Wine? Poor Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Dry with a hint of "prune" smell 9.3% Big John Menor Wood Finn A.J. 3 2 1 1 3.5 2.1 U.S.A. Unita, Utah Really not an "official" beer, but a "barley wine". The label on the bottle said you could lay it down to "age" it. Although none of us could figure out why you'd age this stuff in the first place. This is a true rot gut brew, you'd have to love it to drink it, and well, we just didn't. Save your money on this one folks! $1.50
61 Harley Davidson Beer (Sturgis Rally '99) Pilsner Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Common ol' brew ? Big John Wood Menor A.J. Finn 4 3 4.5 5 2 3.7 U.S.A. CHIPPAWA Falls, wis. Just a Novelty beer. Typical Budweiser flavor, although some thought it more a Pabst Blue Ribbon brew. Actually got this can in South Dakota at the Sturgis Rally, the beer might not kick, but the rally does! Ever get a chance, swing by, the scenery will more than make up for the brews. $4 a six pack
62 Jack's Best Bitter Bitter Poor Davenport's Dungeon 12/5/99 Heavy Hops smell that is very misleading ? Big John A.J. Menor Wood Finn 4 5.5 1 1 1 2.4 Camino California Although there were a few that tried to hold out and be objective, the majority were to stricken with the heeby-jeebies to remain objective. This is a bitter, and quite frankly it tasted like carbonated vinegar. Unless you’re a bitter fan, this wouldn't make you a good drink. ?
63 Saison Dupont (Belgian Farmhouse Ale) Ale Average Davenport's Dungeon 12/26/99 Musty old beer smell 6.5 Big John Menor A.J. Wood Finn 6 6.5 6 4 4 5.3 Belgium We had a guest tester here, Waterman! (Another Mystery beer guy?) The flavor tastes a little musty, and has a formaldehyde aftertaste. It's basically a hefeweizen beer. The best thing about this beer is that it comes in a giant bottle! If your looking for a giant beer, this is the ticket. It has a lot of carbonation, and your definitely not going to be looking through this one, it's as thick as milk. Not an unworthy beer, but you'd probably have to build up a tolerance for it. Great burping effects! $3.00 per bottle (750ml bottle!

Not only does it have an awesome label, (The artwork is superb) but the flavor is great! Being able to purchase this brew in the states rated it a little higher for some. It ranked flavor wise as well as Newcastle. Almost as smooth as Tuborgs Julebyrg! That is probably the greatest compliment it can be given. Try this one folks, you'll be pleasantly surprised! $2 a pint

71 Carmel pale Ale Ale Good DAVENPORTS TAVERN 6/2/00 the smell of sweet caramel is the dominant scent ? A.J. BIG JOHN Wood

6.75 7 4

5.91 USA Carmel pale ale(from Carmel California) has a strong tart taste. It is certainly not for every one and not for a long night of partying. However for a good beer at dinner or after work with a stogy it is a must. It has an odor of (believe it or not) of Carmel. This is a good short time beer. 1.99

74 Alaskan Frontier Ale Average Davenport's Dungeon 7/15/00 sweet caramel none listed Big John A.J Menor Wood Finn 6 6 6 6 6 6 USA Brought to us by a friendly Alaskan! Quickly referred to as a "mood Beer", basically you'd have to be in the mood for this one. It has pretty stout flavor for an Ale. A truly rustic flavor, after you acclimate your palette it's a fine beer. Kind of a "woodsy" aftertaste. "Nuff said! ?

Apparently this is the "local favorite" as an everyday beer. This beer has literally NO aroma! Although billed as an "Extra Light" even that is an understatement. You would have to drink HUNDREDS of these to catch a buzz. Considering this comes from the same country that gives us such fine brews as LaBatt's it's truly amazingly disappointing. This could be considered a "Barley Soda". El Cheapo!

Kind of looks like a Canuck version of Thunderbird, screw cap, cheap label, but all that is VERY misleading! This beer is brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516! It's a damn fine beer that you could become well acquainted with. Unfortunately it has a high fruity aroma and slight fruity flavor, this could prove uncomfortable when it reverses it's direction! All in all Canada can be proud of this one! 1.99 per bottle

A strong bitter aftertaste. You can definitely tell they use formaldehyde in the brewing process with this beer! Not a poor beer, but definitely an acquired taste. Has a very "Dry" taste, which we assume is on purpose. For the price you're probably better off buying a true domestic! $4.00 six pack

4.7 usa Felt like they tried too hard with this one. Not only was it billed as "oak aged" it tasted it! Also the alcohol content was noticeable. Here's a hint for all you micro-brew nuts, if you can taste the alcohol, or the prominent aging process the brewers are trying too damn hard! Not a poor ale, just a poor attempt. $1.50 bottle

5 USA Nice clean aroma, but the taste initially takes you off guard. Mixed review here…some of us liked it, referred to as a sweet honey ale, other commented on the formaldehyde aftertaste. After a few sips it could win you over, but the hangover could kill you. Hard to make a decisive call on this one: better safe than sorry, pick up a six pack of this with one of your favorites. ?
93 Singltrack Copper Ale Ale Above Average Davenport's Dungeon 2/17/01 Sweet. Reminiscent of a sweet Newcastle ? A.J. Menor Finn

7.1 USA (Boulder Colo.) A sweet ale with a smooth pour and excellent taste. Well received and well liked. A few drawbacks were noted…one mentioned a copper after taste. Kind of like sucking on a penny. But not in a bad way. Of course the copper aftertaste usually implies the use of formaldehyde in the brewing process. Not that this is a bad thing, but it can lead to a nasty hangover! Just a word of warning. Overall a fine beer, just be careful on mass consumption! ?
